It's a short story and the question pops up eventually : You find this man/woman of your dreams and everything seems to work perfectly. Cool headed, intelligent, hardworking, sexy,a good cook, and a whole lot of other outstanding qualities are what you find appealing. The first time the issue of genotype is broached, there's this confident smile plastered on your face.
You're happy to announce you're 'AA' even when she admits she's a carrier. You pat her back and loving tell her there's nothing to worry about her.
And then just a few months to the big wedding celebration, you run another genotype test and to your greatest, wildest astonishment YOU ARE A CARRIER...just like your fiancee! Both of you are of the 'AS' genotype.
Will you go ahead with the wedding?
And why not?
The sure place for that scintillating gist on fashion, relationships, celebrity life & style, news, and short stories.

ReplyDeleteI will have a deep moment of sober reflection and go on with the wedding. Love is a powerful thing
ReplyDeleteCant wait
ReplyDeleteI wont go ahead wit d weddin oh...lurv wont b blind whn d kids strt dying
ReplyDeleteFrom a medical view point, they should not proceed with the wedding especially if in Nigeria.Abroad, there are screening tests that are done to detect if the fetus (even at 16weeks) carry the dominant sickle cell genes. If it does,it is aborted. In the UK,this test is done for all pregnant African ladies at their 1st antenatal visit. This is not readily available in Nigeria so it is better not to bring children into the world to suffer
ReplyDeleteI wnt go ahead wit d weddin oO,it will hurt bt it will pass, even wit d yankee testin n all,its still aint rite 2 b killin babies in d name of Luv,dat's wickedness.
ReplyDeleteMustard seed Faith can move mountains, love can too, faith and love together will cure their blood of sickle cell anaemia, miracles do happen, I'll recommend they should both examine themselves to ascertain d level of their love for each other and their faith in God, with God nothing is impossible, they can proceed with d wedding plans, but if these two things are not in place, I will strongly advice dem to call off d wedding, it's better than the aftermath of their action
ReplyDeleteI won't take such a senseless risk, will have no choice than to call d wedding off, love without wisdom is senseless and baseless. " JERGS"
