Jenny is a working class lady married with three lovely kids. Having married Tunde for the past nine years of marital bliss,it beats her that he suddenly finds everything she does distasteful. She confides in Anne, her childhood friend. "Nothing I do pleases Tunde anymore!"
Anne advises her to make things 'tough' for him. This 'technique' she says, always works for her hubby of two years. "I yell at him, fight him nonstop till he bulges! " Jenny nods her head and listens on with rapt attention. " You are too soft Jen. Wetin sef? You're always quick to beg. Men do not value women like you. It's tit for tat baby. He wants to frustrate me,i frustrate him even twice as much.Yes oh!" She rants on,revealing the many tough ways to deal with a deviating husband.
Jenny drives home and decides to put all she'd learnt today to test. Tunde returns home shortly before midnight to meet his wife standing by the door. Jenny wouldn't step aside. She grabs him by the collar and demands angrily," Where are you coming from at this late hour? What have I done Babatunde, to warrant this ill treatment from you?! Tell me."
Tunde stares at her dumbfounded. " What has come over you Jenny?" he finally finds his tongue.
"You! You! You! Yes you!" she begins to throw her fists at him. Tunde ducks and deftly steps aside. He rushes into his room and locks it after him. The next day Jenny was determined even more. She wouldn't prepare his meals. She buys fast food for the kids and drops them off at school. Of course she reports back to aunty Anne who applauds her 'toughness' and guarantees total reconciliation between she and her hubby at the end.
This continues for a whole week and on the eighth day, Tunde wouldn't return home from work.
"Do not call him. It's all part of the game!" Anne exclaims," he wants you to be frantic. "
On the nineth day Jenny is restless. She calls Tunde but he wouldn't take her calls. She thinks of contacting his parents. Now what has she got herself involved in? Has she driven him totally with her 'toughness'? She'd become quite a bug to Tunde and now it bugged her that she had probably handled things the wrong way. Damn Anne... what next? Where's Tunde? Had she lost him completely?

How will a woman who has just been married for 2 years advice another who has been married for 9 years and we expect her not to wrongly counsel her, I don't think Anne is a good friend to Jenny, if that's how Anne has been treating her dummy husband of 2 years, d marriage would not have lasted that long.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up Meme, I am enjoying ur thrilling stories
Some counsel Anne is.....like it is said different strokes for different folks; if Anne being lucky that her method has worked for her marriage of 2 years I wonder if at the 9th year the method she will deploy.
